Fresher IT Interview Questions with Simple Answers: 10 Common Questions
How to Use This Guide
Do not memorise these answers word for word. Read the idea, then explain it in your own words with your own example. Interviewers can tell the difference, and follow-up questions come from what you say.
Personal and HR Questions
Q1. Tell me about yourself.
Keep it to 4–5 lines: your name and background, the course or skills you learned, one project you built, and the role you want. Example: "I completed training in web development, built a small shop website using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and I am looking for a junior developer role."
Q2. Why should we hire you?
Link your skills to the job post. Mention what you can do now (for example, build a responsive page or prepare GST invoices) and that you learn quickly and take feedback well. Stay honest.
Q3. What do you do when you get stuck on a problem?
Show a clear process: read the error, try to isolate the problem, search documentation, try a fix, then ask a mentor or senior with what you have already tried.
Basic Technical Questions
Q4. What is a variable?
A named place in a program that stores a value, such as a name or a number, which can be used and changed later.
Q5. What is the difference between a list and a tuple in Python?
A list can be changed after creation (mutable); a tuple cannot (immutable). Lists use square brackets, tuples use round brackets.
Q6. What is the difference between front end and back end?
Front end is what users see and click (pages, buttons, forms). Back end handles data, logins and business logic on the server.
Q7. What is an API?
A way for one software program to request data or actions from another, for example an app asking a server for a list of products.
Q8. What is the difference between GET and POST?
GET is generally used to fetch data. POST is used to send data to the server, such as submitting a form.
Q9. What is a database, and what is SQL?
A database stores organised data. SQL is a language used to read, add, update and delete data in relational databases.
Q10. What is Git used for?
Git tracks changes in code over time and helps teams work together. GitHub is a website where Git repositories can be stored and shared.

Give a short 4–5 line summary: background, skills, one project and the role you want. Keep it relevant to the job.
What if I do not know the answer to a technical question?+
Say so honestly, explain what you do know about the topic and how you would find the answer. Honesty is better than guessing.
How many projects should a fresher mention?+
Two or three that you can explain well are better than many you cannot. Be ready to describe your own part.
Should I prepare for HR questions as well as technical ones?+
