Course Overview

Most 3D animation courses in Surat teach you where the buttons are. This one teaches you how to actually use them on real projects. At NodeToLearn, you work directly on a high-performance workstation from day one — modeling characters, rigging skeletons, texturing surfaces, and animating movement — the same way professionals do it in gaming studios and VFX production houses.

You will build your skills across four industry-standard tools: Blender for 3D modeling and sculpting, Autodesk Maya for rigging and animation, Substance Painter for realistic surface texturing, and modern AI tools that help speed up parts of the production workflow. The course runs entirely 1-on-1, so the pace adapts to you — not to a batch of 30 students.

By the time you finish, you will have a personal showreel built from complete projects: a modeled and textured character, a working rig with facial controls, and animated sequences with camera work. That portfolio is what actually gets you hired or helps you land freelance clients.

This course is hands-on from the very first session. There are no lengthy slide presentations or theory lectures. If you are serious about 3D animation as a career — whether in gaming, film post-production, or freelance work — this is structured to get you production-ready.

Who is this for?

This course is built for students and working professionals who want to enter the 3D animation or gaming industry — whether as an animator, character artist, rigger, or freelance 3D generalist. It suits recent graduates, commerce or arts students switching careers, and IT professionals who want to move into creative production. You do not need prior 3D experience — but you should be genuinely interested in putting in consistent hours on actual projects, not just watching tutorials.

Career Outcomes

  • Completing this 3D animation course in Surat prepares you for roles like 3D Animator
  • 3D Modeling Artist
  • Character Rigging TD (Technical Director)
  • Texture and Shading Artist
  • Lighting Artist
  • and CGI Environment Designer. You can also work as a Freelance 3D Generalist — taking on character
  • product
  • or environment projects independently.

Course Curriculum

Module 1: 3D Modeling, Sculpting & Clean Topology (Blender)

  • Getting comfortable in Blender: understanding the 3D viewport, navigating X/Y/Z axes, and setting up your workspace for production work.
  • Building real geometry: using subdivision surface modeling, boolean operations (cutting shapes into each other), and modifier stacks so edits stay non-destructive.
  • Retopology basics: taking a high-detail sculpt and rebuilding it as a lighter, game-ready mesh without losing the visual detail.
  • Preparing files for handoff: exporting clean .FBX and .OBJ files with correct vertex normal data so the model behaves properly in other software.

Module 2: Realistic Surface Texturing with PBR Workflow (Substance Painter)

  • Understanding PBR texturing: how metalness, roughness, and normal maps work together to make a surface look physically believable under any light.
  • Building up surface detail in layers: using smart materials, procedural masks, and anchor points to add realistic wear, scratches, and dirt — without painting every pixel manually.
  • Hand-painted details: adding fabric stitching, skin tones, glowing emission channels, and fine surface stamps where procedural tools fall short.
  • Exporting textures correctly: setting up UDIM multi-tile layouts and channel-packed maps that plug directly into Unreal Engine or other real-time renderers.

Module 3: Character Rigging, Bones & Skin Controls (Autodesk Maya)

  • Building a skeleton from scratch: placing joints in the right positions, orienting their local axes correctly, and mirroring the rig symmetrically.
  • FK and IK switching: understanding when a character limb should follow Forward Kinematics (pose-to-pose) versus Inverse Kinematics (foot planted on ground) — and setting up controls for both.
  • Weight painting: deciding how much each bone influences surrounding skin vertices, so joints bend cleanly without pinching or collapsing.
  • Facial rig setup: creating blendshapes for expressions, setting up eye tracking controls, and wiring everything to master controller objects.

Module 4: Animation Principles, Keyframing & Cinematography (Maya)

  • Working in the Graph Editor: adjusting animation curve tangents, setting up looping cycles, and controlling how a motion eases in and out.
  • Animating believable movement: building walk cycles, run cycles, jump arcs, and physical weight — applying the classic 12 principles of animation to 3D keyframes.
  • Camera work: setting up moving camera shots, crane moves, depth-of-field focus pulls, and matching cinematic shot framing.
  • Secondary motion: adding overlapping animation on hair, loose clothing, tails, and other parts that should react to the main body movement with a natural delay.

Module 5: AI-Assisted 3D Tools & Final Scene Rendering

  • Text-to-3D prototyping: using current AI generation tools to quickly block out environment props and explore silhouette ideas before committing to manual modeling.
  • AI-assisted texture creation: generating seamless, high-resolution base texture images using AI image tools, then refining them inside Substance Painter.
  • Automated lip-sync: using machine-learning tools that read a voice recording and automatically map mouth blendshapes to match the speech — saving hours of manual keyframing.
  • Final rendering and lighting: importing your scene into a rendering engine, setting up a 3-point studio light rig, and configuring multi-pass render layers for a clean final output.
